NEAR Intents Enables Direct Cross-Chain Swaps to Sui
NEAR Intents now supports direct cross-chain swaps into Sui, improving interoperability and eliminating the need for bridges or custodians.
A new integration between NEAR Protocol and the Sui Network introduces direct, on-chain cross-chain asset swaps through NEAR Intents—a user-centric architecture that redefines how assets are transferred across blockchains. This implementation significantly lowers the complexity of interacting with multiple networks and marks a notable milestone in the broader push for seamless blockchain interoperability.

Unlike traditional bridge-based solutions that rely on intermediary layers, third-party custody, or multi-network gas management, NEAR Intents allows users to initiate swaps directly from over 20 supported blockchains into the Sui ecosystem. These swaps can be completed without holding native tokens for gas on either source or destination chains and require minimal user interaction.
How NEAR Intents Works
At its core, NEAR Intents is built around an intent-based architecture, where users define the outcome they want—such as swapping a specific token—rather than executing individual steps. Behind the scenes, solvers (automated agents) interpret these intents and construct the optimal execution path, managing complexity on behalf of the user.
This model supports asset transfers from chains including Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, NEAR, Dogecoin, XRP, and Zcash, enabling direct entry into Sui’s DeFi ecosystem without bridges, wrapping, or centralized custody. Execution occurs on-chain and typically completes in under a minute, with over 100 native assets currently supported.
A Simpler, Safer User Experience
The NEAR Intents integration emphasizes ease of use and user autonomy. Transactions can often be completed in just a few clicks, with no need to manage multiple wallets, switch networks, or approve numerous contract interactions. Use cases go beyond token swaps, extending to over-the-counter trades, peer-to-peer payments, and gifting, all handled through the same interface.
Importantly, asset custody remains with the user throughout the process. There is no need to trust an intermediary with funds, and the solver system ensures that swaps are only executed if the full request can be fulfilled securely and efficiently.
A Timely Integration for Sui’s Expanding DeFi Landscape
This integration comes amid a period of rapid growth in the Sui ecosystem. As of July 2025, Sui’s total value locked (TVL) surpassed $1.7 billion, placing it among the top 10 blockchains by DeFi activity. Monthly decentralized exchange (DEX) volume exceeded $8.1 billion, reflecting increased adoption and developer engagement.
Additionally, Sui’s native stablecoin crossed the $1 billion market capitalization mark in June—an increase of over 180% since January. This momentum underscores the demand for frictionless onboarding into the ecosystem, which NEAR Intents directly addresses.
Developers building on Sui can now integrate NEAR Intents into their decentralized applications (dApps), offering users a native cross-chain experience without having to rely on bridges or cross-chain communication protocols. This reduces operational overhead and enhances security while broadening accessibility to liquidity across ecosystems.
Looking Ahead
The NEAR Intents integration with Sui represents a pragmatic step toward cross-chain composability—an increasingly important theme in the evolution of DeFi. By abstracting away the technical complexity of blockchain interoperability, this approach allows users and developers to focus on outcomes rather than infrastructure.
Support for more Sui-native tokens is expected to roll out in the coming weeks, opening further opportunities for builders and liquidity providers within the network. As Sui continues its trajectory of DeFi expansion, solutions like NEAR Intents will play a pivotal role in bridging ecosystems while maintaining the ethos of decentralization and user control.
